Windows Vista Support

WAV Joiner v3.0 and later is supported on Windows Vista as well as Windows 98 / ME and XP. 

The following Windows Vista features are supported:

• New style File Open / Save dialog with search bars
• The new standard Segoe UI 9pt font

and, if your version of Windows Vista and your computer system have sufficient capabilities:

• Taskbar thumbnail previews
• Windows Flip thumbnail previews and Flip3D previews
• Translucent Aero Glass window borders

On earlier versions of Windows the standard Tahoma 8pt font is used.

More WAV file variations supported

WAV files created using Windows Media Player 11, Broadcast Wave files from digital recorders etc. are supported.

General

The default directory for a new installation when creating WAV files is the user's My Music (XP) or Music (Vista) directory.  A new directory can be created by clicking on the Make New Folder button when browsing directories in which to save the WAV file.

Version 2

Menus and Toolbars

Four different visual menu styles can be chosen to match your version of Windows and other Microsoft applications.

• Standard - As used in Windows 98 and Windows ME
• XP - As used in standard Windows XP applications
• Flat - As used in Microsoft Office XP
• Office 2003 - As used in Microsoft Office 2003

The toolbars on the main WAV Joiner screen can optionally be displayed with large icons for better visibility.

Unlimited number of files

Join a virtually unlimited number of files in one session - the number is no longer restricted to 63. The only constraint is that the size of the combined file must be less than 2GB - approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes of CD-quality stereo recording.

Additional supported formats

Join 8-bit WAV files, as well as 16-bit WAV files, in both Mono and Stereo formats and a range of sampling rates.

Selected files

• Select a subset of files by ticking the checkboxes next to the filenames. The displayed start time and end time columns, and the Total Size status display are automatically updated to include only the selected files. Only the selected files are joined and saved.
• Quickly select all files or no files from the new popup menu.
• Use a new option to control whether every file or no files should be selected, by default, when they are first opened.

Copy to clipboard

Copy the contents of the display (filenames, sizes and times separated by Tabs) to the standard Windows Clipboard to be used in other applications.

Improved display

The readability of the display has been improved by including the Windows digit grouping symbol (e.g. a comma) in the file sizes and by displaying the times in hours:minutes:seconds format.
